Working Principle of HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor



The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor uses sound waves to measure distances. It emits an ultrasonic sound wave with a frequency of 40kHz. When this sound wave hits an object, it is reflected back and detected by the sensor. The time taken by the sound wave to travel to the object and back is measured. This time is then used to calculate the distance.

Pin Connections



The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor has four pins: the VCC, Trigger, Echo, and GND pins. The VCC pin is connected to the +5V power supply, while the GND pin is connected to ground. The Trigger and Echo pins are connected to the microcontroller. The Trigger pin is used to send a signal to the sensor to start the distance measurement process. The Echo pin is used to receive the signal once the sound wave has been reflected back by the object.
